In the traditional Chinese Spring Festival of 2018, Hangzhou greeted people who returned home or stayed in the city to celebrate the lunar New Year in a warm and special way.
On February 8, the preliminary eve of the lunar calendar, Hangzhou's first animation-themed subway station was officially unveiled at the Jiangling Road Station of Hangzhou Metro Line 1. Starting from 2018, the animation-themed subway station will focus on a theme in each of the four quarters. The theme of the first season is animation warming the way home. Murong Yindao, a famous cartoonist settling in Hangzhou, created a series of theme designs for coming home in Spring Festival, with the mild personified cartoon dog Dao Dao. In the first season, the animation subway station had a special animation subway train, a large cartoon in the Jiangling Road Station on returning home for the Chinese New Year, interactive shield door stickers in the platform, and a long “rainbow staircase”. Murong Yindao said that "the mood of going home is like the 8th color of a rainbow."
Why does Hangzhou build an animation subway station?
Zhuo Chao, deputy director of the publicity department of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, believed that “animation is a fashion culture that young people like. The subway is also a fashionable urban public transport tool. By building an animation subway station, we hope that it could become a characteristic cultural mark of Hangzhou, the capital of China’s animation industry.”
