On December 20, the first China (Hangzhou) IP Authorization Conference, co-sponsored by China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Exhibition Office and Taobao (China) Software Co. Ltd., was held in Hangzhou. The Chinese animation IP cooperation platform, jointly developed by the two sides, has been officially launched online to foster Asia's largest consumer market for 2D derivatives.
At the conference, China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Exhibition Office signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Yintai Group. In the future, it will launch a full-year animation exhibition and carnival tour via Yintai outlets in Hangzhou, striving to achieve the goal of "watching Chinese cartoons and animations at the animation festival, IP cooperation on Taobao, offline experience by touring Yintai". It will thus make a full-dimensional, all-time display of the charms of Hangzhou as the capital of animation.
The first China (Hangzhou) IP Authorization Conference attracted many well-known IP, enterprises at home and abroad, including Hatsune Miku, Ultraman, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Pili International, The Legend of Qin, Xizai Cat, and StarMoly, and hundreds of Taobao sellers. The participants held business negotiations on IP authorization and derivatives development on the spot. The derivatives sales are expected to reach over 100 million yuan.
The officially launched Chinese animation IP cooperation platform, run by China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Exhibition Offfice and Taobao, will provide a series of integrated online and offline marketing services from copyright management, content marketing, commodity authorization, foreground scene matching to quality IPs at home and abroad. To date, the platform has gathered over 500 well-known IP brands including Xian Er, RUMI, and The Legend of Qin.
This year, at the Double 12 Shopping Carnival, the Taobao 2D industry sales increased by nearly 90% compared with last year. Only 19 minutes after the opening, COS Fuzhou outlet Sanfen Wangxiang sales exceeded one million yuan. Meow Shop, also from Fuzhou, broke the one million yuan sales markin 10 minutes. They were evidence of the great consumption power of 2D.
At present, the post-90 and post-00 consumers accounts for nearly 50% in Taobao 2D industry. These young consumers are also loyal supporters of IP products. The domestic 2D market is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan in three years, and China will become Asia's largest consumer market for 2D derivatives.
At the 14th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival this year, the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Exhibition Office and Taobao (China) Software Co. Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The important objectives of the cooperation is to open up the online and offline industrial chains, break the barriers between the offline animation enterprise resources and Taobao 2D business resources, promote animation transactions, enhance daily cultural consumption, and create a never-ending animation festival.
Another major event at the conference was that China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Exhibition Office and Yintai Department Store Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Zhou Ye, a member of the leading group of the municipal publicity department, and deputy director of the municipal cultural creativity office (festival exhibition office), signed the contract on behalf of theoffice. In the future, Hangzhou will take full advantage of the abundant offline resources of Yintai in the city to launch a year-round animation exhibition and display activities, and create animation (IP) malls.
According to the cooperation plan of the two sides, during the 15th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival in 2019, Yintai will serve as a venue of the festival, and build animation (IP) malls in seven outlets across the city. Meanwhile, the animation carnival parade, a CICAF brand activity, will join hands with Yintain’s annual Wulin parade for win-win cooperation. It will further introduce IP resources to create online and offline carnival events. In addition, the newly released Chinese animation IP cooperation platform will also unite Yintai, withthe animation IP line throughout the year, to create funny, amusing and happy animation malls, and further build up the animation culture atmosphere of Hangzhou.
As the capital of animation, Hangzhou has successfully held 14 sessions of China International Cartoon & Animation Festival. It has also built up the atmosphere and enriched Hangzhou animation culture through the animation subways, animation buses, comic contests, animation malls, and animation restaurants.
