2014 International Cartoon & Animation Alliance Hangzhou Summit

With the theme of “Cooperation• Dream• Future”, the 5th International Cartoon & Animation Alliance Hangzhou Summit and the 4th Award Ceremony of “China Rising Stars of Cartoon & Animation” was successfully held in Phoenix Creative International, April 30, 2014.

More than 300 guests presented the event: top officials from State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television of China, Zhejiang Provincial Government, Hangzhou Municipal Government and Xihu District Department. Moreover, representatives from 10+ International Cartoon & Animation Festivals, China Academy of Art, China Film Association, animation companies, and media also come over to witness the grand meeting.

More than 20 representatives from 12 famous animation festivals of 11 countries gathered at this summit, covering five continents of Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America.  ASIFA Association Internationale du Film d'Animation is the only global animation organization under the guidance of UNESCO. It has 48 member states and its members are located all over the world. It is known as “UN in the animation industry”. Mr. Ed Desroches, who was elected as the new president of the ASIFA Association International du Film d'Animation in January this year, is an artist who combines animator, designer, producer and director. He is pleased to accept the invitation of the Hangzhou Summit of the 5th International Animation Festival to come to Hangzhou. He hopes to find a new star of animation in the window of the Hangzhou Summit and deepen cooperation with the Chinese animation industry.

Because of Hangzhou Summit, CICAF got to know a lot of new and old friends. In this Summit, six international festivals of Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), Kecskemet Animation Film Festival (KAFF), Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF), Bucheon International Animation Festival(BIAF), ANIMA Córdoba International Animation Festival (ANIMA), and Asia Content & Entertainment Fair Gwangju (ACE Fair) have signed or renewed the "Mutual Cooperation Agreement" with the CICAF respectively, in which consensus was reached in many areas such as the exchanging of visits,  advertisements, booth, works, and talent. Among them, ANIMA from Argentina, was the first South America festival came and signed the “Mutual Cooperation Agreement” with the CICAF. This means that in October 2015, CICAF will enter into the South American continent for the first time.

In addition to the signing of the above-mentioned "Mutual Cooperation Agreement", all festivals have also signed the "Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU) with CICAF to maintain the friendly relations. Moreover, 11 international animation festivals presented 10-year birthday gifts to the CICAF: Hungarian compasses, Dutch wooden shoes, Korean customized crystal trophy, Argentinean traditional coconut carvings, and New Zealand stamps, etc.. Xie Shuangcheng, the Deputy Mayor of Hangzhou presented the exquisite silk long scroll painting of "Silk landscape, decade of anime relation" to the representatives of various countries on behalf of CICAF
